About me
About Dr. Jillian Cohen
Some people find their way to medicine. I always knew. From the time I was a little girl, I wanted to be a doctor — not because it sounded impressive, but because I wanted to help people the way my great-uncle did. He was the kind of physician you don't see much anymore: old school, unhurried, the doctor who did it all and knew every patient by name. He was everything. And without fully realizing it, I spent the next few decades trying to become him. I grew up in north Jersey, and medicine has kept me close to home ever since.
My Path
I completed my training in Family Medicine and went on to complete two Integrative Medicine fellowships — one through the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine at University of Arizona (AWCIM), and a second at Weill Cornell Medicine, where I had the honor of serving as their inaugural fellow. I also completed the full curriculum through the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM), deepening my foundation in root-cause, systems-based care. All of this was initially inspired by patients who were asking me questions I couldn’t fully answer yet.
They were asking about supplements and nutrition, about whether acupuncture could help their migraines, hormones, or their anxiety, and I was asking the same questions myself. I was using these tools in my own life — energy healing, acupuncture, nutrition — and I knew the research was there. I wanted to be the doctor who could bridge both worlds with confidence and integrity.
That pursuit led me to Weill Cornell Medicine, where I served as Integrative Medicine Fellowship Director, and later to Hackensack Meridian Health, where I became Medical Director of Integrative Health & Medicine and ultimately founded and continue to direct their Integrative Medicine Fellowship Program. For nearly a decade I have trained the next generation of integrative physicians — and that work has shaped me as much as any course or certification.
Additionally, I’ve become a certified lactation specialist, completed advanced training in postpartum care with Dr. Oscar Serrallach, HypnoBirthing, breastfeeding medicine, advanced training in midlife care with Dr. Heather Hirsch, and I'm currently completing my certification in Menopause Medicine through the Menopause Society. Women's health — in all its complexity — has become my greatest area of focus and passion.
Why This Practice, Why Now
After years in academic medicine I kept seeing the same thing: women not getting the time, the attention, or answers they deserved. But it wasn't just my patients who shaped this practice — it was my own experiences as a woman and a mother. My own postpartum journey was harder than I expected. I struggled, I looked for help, and I was met with the same gaps I'd been watching my patients navigate for years. That experience sent me on a deep dive into postpartum medicine that never really ended.
So I built something different. A small, intentional practice where I can actually do what I went into medicine to do — sit with a patient, listen, think, and treat the whole person. No insurance constraints. No 10-minute appointments. Just medicine the way it was always supposed to be practiced.
Who I Work With
The women I want to work with are women like me — curious, engaged, done settling for “everything looks fine” when they know it doesn't feel fine. Women who want a doctor who will dig deeper, think differently, and show up for them. Whether you're trying to conceive, navigating postpartum, deep in perimenopause or menopause, or simply ready to invest in your health in a real way — I'd love to be your doctor.
A Little More About Me
Outside of medicine I enjoy General Hospital, Hamilton, and everything Disney! I’m grounded by my family and my community — the same community I'm now privileged to serve through this practice.
